About the internship

Join the AllTrails team for a summer of high-impact work.

At AllTrails, interns tackle real problems that affect millions of people who use our platform to get outside every day. You won't be doing busy work, you'll own a high-impact project from start to finish and present your results directly to leadership.

From day one, you'll be embedded in your team with a dedicated manager who is invested in your growth. You'll join team meetings, collaborate cross-functionally, and have a voice in how we build. Whether you're helping shape how people discover trails, crunching data that drives product decisions, or creating content that reaches a global community — your work here will matter.

If you're looking for a summer where you grow fast, solve hard problems, and leave with something you're genuinely proud of, this is it.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Audit existing content across SEO, Trail Notes, Newsroom, PR, and affiliate channels to identify gaps, redundancies, and high-performing themes
  • Analyze traffic, engagement, and keyword data to surface SEO opportunities and inform editorial strategy across global and market-specific themes
  • Use AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude) and SEO platforms (Ahrefs, SEMrush) to scale production of ~100+ SEO-optimized content pieces for high-demand Trail, Location, and Park pages
  • Build a centralized, cross-channel editorial calendar — defining taxonomy (themes, tags, formats) and integrating SEO topics, product moments, and consumer needs
  • Design repeatable AI-assisted workflows for content analysis, planning, and SEO production at scale — documenting prompts, templates, and QA standards
  • Conduct video and social content opportunity mapping, identifying SEO-informed topics for YouTube, Reels, and TikTok and matching them to creators and formats
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with SEO, content, PR/Affiliate, lifecycle, partnerships, and social teams throughout the project
  • Finalize and present all deliverables — including a content insights report, editorial roadmap, and AI content playbook — to the broader Marketing team

At the end of the internship, success looks like:

  • A library of ~100+ drafted and reviewed SEO content pieces ready for publish, covering high-demand Trail, Location, and Park pages
  • A centralized editorial calendar and 3–6 month content roadmap adopted by the team as a single source of truth across channels
  • A documented AI content playbook — including workflows, prompts, and QA standards — that enables the team to scale content production independently after the internship ends
  • A final presentation to Marketing leadership covering content insights, strategic recommendations, and a video/content opportunity map

What you bring:

  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited Undergraduate degree program. This opportunity is for second or third-year Bachelor students who are graduating between December 2027 – June 2029
  • Candidates should be able to demonstrate how this internship aligns with their current field of study or future career goals through relevant coursework, volunteer work, or campus leadership
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Business, or a related field
  • Strong writing and editorial judgment with an eye for quality and brand voice
  • Analytical thinking and ability to identify trends from traffic, keyword, and engagement data
  • Strong organizational and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Interest in SEO, AI, and content strategy
  • Bonus: familiarity with AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.), basic SEO concepts or keyword research, or experience with editorial calendars and content management systems

Program Details:

  • Length of program: ~10 weeks (Summer 2026, roughly June through August)
  • Commitment: Full-time (40 hours/week)
  • Compensation: $40/hr
  • Benefits: This role is eligible for paid company holidays, 2 sick days and 2 days of paid vacation.
  • Peak Membership: 5 Lifetime Peak Memberships for you and your friends and family
  • Location: This is a U.S. based remote position, with a preference for interns based in one of our hub locations: San Francisco, Portland OR, Seattle, Denver, New York, Boston, Bend OR, or Salt Lake City. Being near a hub gives interns the opportunity to join a special trail day during the program and, where available, participate in local co-working days.
