Racquet Sports Assistant

 

 

SUPERVISOR(S):     Director of Racquets, Assistant Director of Racquets 

CLASSIFICATION: 

Hourly, Non-Exempt                           

Part-Time, Seasonal 

 

WORKING HOURS: 

Part-Time 

BASIC FUNCTION: 

 

The Racquet Sports Assistant (RSA) will work closely with the Director of Racquets to provide exceptional daily service and maintenance of the courts. They will assist with court maintenance, including cleaning courts, brushing courts, rolling courts, emptying trash, picking up balls, and filling towel stations. The RSA will answer phones, take messages, make reservations, answer questions, and perform other office duties as requested. The RSA will assist with clinics, hitting with members, supporting junior and adult programs 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES 

 

Specifically, the Racquet Sports Assistant must: 

 TENNIS/PICKLE/PADDLE:  

  • Participate in teaching as directed by the Director of Racquets or Assistant Racquets Professional. 
  • Assist in the supervision of summer programs, camps, clinics, and workouts to adequately fill the needs of junior and adult members as directed. Assist with racquet court maintenance and coverage. 
  • Report violations of Club racquet policies and procedures regarding play on Club courts to the Director. 
  • Ensure daily member charges entered into the Point-of-Sale system are accurate and complete. 
  • Perform daily maintenance. 

 

 TENNIS ADMIN OFFICE/PRO-SHOP: 

  • Assist in running the racquets office/pro-shop. 
  • Answer phones and take messages.
  •  Assist with cleaning the office area. 
  • Take and make court and event reservations. 
  • Answer members' questions.
  • Assist with computer work as directed. 

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: 

  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to work with adults and children. 
  • High school playing level or higher. • Prior teaching experience preferred. 
  • PTR/PPR/PPTR or equivalent certification preferred. 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee may regularly be required to sit, stand, use hands, talk, hear, reach with arms, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or run. The employee may regularly be required to move, by pushing, pulling, or lifting up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions such as extreme heat, snow, rain, and cold weather. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. NOTE: Employee may perform other related duties as assigned to meet the club’s needs of the organization. 

 

BENEFITS & COMPENSATION: 

The expected range for the hourly rate for this position is $18-$22 per hour.
