Position Summary

The Lead Preschool Teacher is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment for young children. This role includes planning and implementing developmentally appropriate, play-based curriculum that supports children’s cognitive, social-emotional, physical, and spiritual growth. The Lead Teacher serves as a role model for both children and staff, ensuring high-quality instruction and classroom management.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum & Instruction

  • Plan and implement age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with state early learning standards
  • Incorporate hands-on, play-based learning experiences
  • Foster language development, early literacy, and foundational math skills
  • Integrate faith-based principles and character development (if applicable)

Classroom Management

  • Maintain a structured, positive, and engaging classroom environment
  • Establish consistent routines and clear expectations
  • Use positive guidance techniques to support behavior

Child Development & Assessment

  • Observe, assess, and document children’s progress
  • Adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs
  • Identify and communicate developmental concerns when appropriate

Family Communication

  • Build strong relationships with families
  • Provide daily updates and regular progress reports
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences

Health & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with all licensing and safety regulations
  • Maintain a clean, organized classroom
  • Follow proper procedures for meals, hygiene, and supervision

Leadership & Team Collaboration

  • Supervise and support assistant teachers
  • Model professionalism and best practices
  • Collaborate with staff to support center goals and initiatives
