Position Summary:

Student Recreation & Wellness Servies is looking for graphic designers to create designs and content for programs and services! 

The Student Graphic Designer for the Campus Recreation Department plays a key role in promoting programs, events, and services through creative visual communication. This position is responsible for designing engaging marketing materials that align with the department’s brand and enhance student participation.

Working closely with professional staff and student teams, the designer will create a variety of digital and print assets, including social media graphics, posters, flyers, banners, and promotional campaigns. The role requires creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

This position offers hands-on experience in graphic design, branding, and marketing within a dynamic campus setting, providing an opportunity to build a professional portfolio while supporting student engagement and wellness initiatives.

Depending on the volume of requests, a candidate should be able to consistently work between 2-6 hours per week (certainly more are allowed and likely available depending on programming needs) throughout the semester or breaks. An ideal candidate should have the ability to create digital and print media promotions such as digital graphics, posters, flyers, etc.

Pay rate: $11.00/hour

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Currently enrolled student in good academic standing, preferably pursuing a degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Marketing, or a related field
  • Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) or similar tools
  • Strong understanding of design principles, including layout, typography, color theory, and branding
  • Ability to create engaging content for both digital and print platforms, including social media graphics and promotional materials
  • Basic knowledge of social media trends and visual storytelling strategies
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce high-quality work consistently
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with professional staff and student teams
  • Interest in campus recreation, wellness, or student engagement initiatives is a plus
  • Attending bi-weekly in person marketing staff/project meetings to discuss upcoming assignments and track progress
  • Produce & distribute content (physical & digital) for posters, flyers, brochures, web banners and other promotional materials for the department
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor(s).

Required Qualifications:

  •  Organizational and management skills as they relate to direct job duties.
  •  A strong working knowledge and understanding of graphic design and marketing.

Hours Scheduled:

 Approximately 2-6 hours per week. The opportunity to work more certainly exists. Hours are determined by needs and volume of requests that come through the department and often change. Please address your needs in your cover letter.
