Communications Intern

I. Position Purpose

Mount Auburn is seeking a creative and motivated Communications Intern to support our mission of sharing God’s love through clear, engaging, and uplifting communication. This internship offers hands-on experience in nonprofit and ministry communications, including graphic design, social media management, promotional planning, and storytelling.

This position is ideal for a college student majoring in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Graphic Design, Journalism, Digital Media, or a related field.

II. Core Responsibilities

1. Promotions & Campaign Support

  • Assist with communication campaigns for seasonal events, worship series, mission projects, and community outreach 
  • Collaborate with ministry leaders to gather information and craft compelling promotional messaging.
  • Help plan timelines for communication rollouts and scheduling.

 

2. General Communications Support

  • Staff Meeting and Chapel: As possible, actively participates and prepares materials as necessary for weekly staff meetings and chapel times.
  • Organize digital assets and maintain media libraries.
  • Provide administrative help related to communications projects.

 

 

3. Graphic Design & Branding

  • Assist in creating or updating logos, graphics, and visual assets for church ministries and events.
  • Design digital and print promotional materials (flyers, posters, slides, handouts, etc.).
  • Ensure brand consistency across all communications.

 

4. Social Media 

  • Content update: Draft and schedule content for social media platforms in partnership with Staff Administrative Assistant, weekly content as requested by Mount Auburn such as creating social media graphics and updating event details on the event calendar for items such as the Sweetheart Dance, Christmas/Advent, and Pitch-in. 
  • Design: Provide creative content and engaging updates and photos for social media, utilizing staff members as needed on a weekly basis.  Brainstorm creative new ways to share stories, highlight ministries, and increase engagement.

 

5. Newsletter & Website Content

  • In partnership with staff administrative assistants and volunteers, write and edit content for weekly newsletter.
  • Proofread and format messaging to ensure clarity and accuracy.
  • Edit Sunday sermons for posting on Website, YouTube, etc.

 

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a college or university program or recent graduate.
  • Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with social media platforms and basic content creation.
  • Familiarity with graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar).
  • Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
  • Interest in church or nonprofit communications (prior experience not required).
