Communications & Technical Writing Intern
We are seeking a motivated intern with exceptional written communication skills and strong technical writing abilities to support high-level documentation and executive communications in the government contracting sector.This role focuses on creating clear, professional, and impactful documents that support government contracting and financial governance initiatives. You will translate complex technical information into clear, value-driven language and enhance documents with professional visuals such as infographics and diagrams.Key
Responsibilities
- Draft, edit, and refine high-level technical documents, reports, corporate charters, mission statements, and patent-related specifications using Microsoft Word (with Track Changes).
- Translate complex technical statements, system processes, and bureaucratic language into concise, plain English that clearly communicates value and desired outcomes to senior leaders and stakeholders.
- Develop supporting visuals including infographics, process diagrams, organizational charts, and presentation slides to make technical content more accessible and engaging.
- Create and polish executive-level PowerPoint presentations that combine strong writing with clean, logical visual design.
- Organize and present project data clearly in Excel to support technical documentation and reporting.
- Assist with preparing meeting agendas, briefing materials, and follow-up correspondence for sessions with senior leadership and military officials.
- Participate professionally in meetings with executives and stakeholders when required.
Required Qualifications
- Strong technical writing and editing skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex or technical ideas into clear, outcome-focused language.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office:
- Word: Advanced formatting, editing, and Track Changes.
- PowerPoint: Ability to create professional, visually clear slides and infographics.
- Excel: Comfortable organizing data and creating supporting charts and trackers.
- Visual communication skills — comfortable creating simple infographics, diagrams, and visuals to support written content.
- Professional demeanor and comfort interacting with senior leaders and stakeholders.
- Able to pass a government background check (U.S. citizenship or permanent residency may be required).
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Tableau or similar data visualization tools.
- Portfolio demonstrating technical writing samples and/or visual communication work (infographics or presentations).
- Interest or experience in government contracting, defense, or federal financial systems.
