Job Overview:
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Property Accountant Intern. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in property accounting, focusing on accounts receivable and accounts payable processes within Yardi, our property management and accounting system. The role is ideal for students or recent graduates looking to build a career in accounting within the property management industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Receivable Support:

  • Assist with processing bank desktop deposits.
  • Record tenant payments and maintain accurate tenant ledgers.
  • Upload tenant documents and ensure proper filing.
  • Print and review monthly Accounts Receivable reports.
  • Record approved tenant adjustments as needed.
  • Supported the tracking of tenant payments and followed up on outstanding balances.
  • Contribute to Accounts Receivable projects and initiatives.

Accounts Payable Support:

  • Help create and maintain vendor files.
  • Assist in procuring IRS W-9 forms and Certificates of Insurance (COI) from vendors.
  • Monitor COI expiration dates and follow up for renewals.
  • Process vendor invoices, ensuring proper approvals and documentation.
  • Record invoices and generate checks for payment.
  • Assist with processing vendor autopay payments and reconciling autopay statements.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Learn and utilize Yardi software to support daily accounting tasks.
  • Assist with special projects and tasks as assigned by the accounting team.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Interest in property management or real estate accounting is a plus.
