Audiologist (Education Industry)

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Audiologist to join our team at the ESC of Lake Erie West. In this full-time position, you will play a crucial role in assessing and treating Deaf/Hard of Hearing students. The Audiologist works as an active team member in providing programs and services for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students. Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in organized Deaf/Hard of Hearing programs or mainstreamed into regular classes may receive audiometric evaluations, appropriate central auditory testing, and recommendations regarding appropriate hearing aids or FM auditory or amplified classroom units.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ohio State Board of Education registration in Audiology
  • Experience in pediatric audiology preferred

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assess auditory status and amplification needs of children
  • Oversee the group amplification system for maintenance
  • Provide in-services, group and individual, to teachers, parents, and support personnel to improve the effectiveness of student use of residual hearing
  • Expand the parent education/counseling program regarding audiological information
  • Identify and utilize resources for diagnostic audio logical evaluations, otological services, and provision of amplification equipment for individual children
  • Assess the auditory status of children in regular classes as it relates to the instructional program
  • Make appropriate recommendations for remediation and/or educational programming for children with auditory problems
  • Collect and report data on students and programs to be used in the continued development of the educational audiology program
  • Assist in the arrangements of yearly calibration checks and/or repair of audiometric equipment
  • Assess and identify difficulties of referred students with suspected handicaps through non-discriminatory, diagnostic procedures
  • Interpret assessment information to teachers, students, and parents
  • Acts as resource person for classroom teachers regarding strategies, adaptations, and resource materials
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records; prepare and submit all required reports
