Position Overview
The Storytelling Intern will support our work in elevating the human side of farming and food
systems. This position will work closely with Communications staff.


About our Storytelling Campaign
Our farmers have unique stories to tell, and their experiences shape the food we eat and the soil
under our feet. And yet, the human side of farming is often left out of the narrative. We aim to
elevate the people–their past, present, and future–to foster a more human connection to our food
system.


Internship tasks will include:
- Conduct outreach via phone and email to schedule storytelling sessions with Known &
Grown farmers
- Independent travel to farms in the St Louis region–generally within 1 hour of St Louis
- Conduct interviews with farmers including:
- Developing interview questions generally and specific to each farmer
- Intention to elevate the unique experiences of each farmer
- Traveling to and from farms in the St Louis region
- Digital audio recordings
- Possible participation in hands-on farming activities during interviews
- Collect photos and short videos of farmers
- Transcribe interview dialogue and identify important elements to share
- Work with Communications staff to build a storytelling campaign
- Work with Communications staff on supporting the integration of this campaign into a
broader social media strategy
- Provide support to other Known & Grown projects as needed
