Digital Media Intern

Job Title: Digital Media Intern (Paid – Summer 2026)

Employer: Gallatin County Public Library
Location: Warsaw, KY (Hybrid potential – some remote work possible)
Time Commitment: 15–25 hours per week (flexible scheduling)
Pay: $15/hour
Duration: May – August 2026 (flexible with academic calendars)

About the Role

Are you creative and someone people enjoy working with? Or are you so talented that—even if you’re a little difficult—the quality of your work makes it worth it for a summer?

Either way, the Gallatin County Public Library is looking for someone who gets it—someone who can help tell our story through digital media while being part of a small, collaborative team.

This isn’t a corporate environment. It’s closer to a pirate ship—with books. We move fast, we rely on each other, and everyone contributes. You won’t be sitting on the shore scheduling posts. You’ll be in it—working with staff, capturing real moments, and helping shape how the library shows up in the community.

This role is about more than social media. It’s about showing up, doing the work, and sharpening skills that will carry into whatever you do next.

What You’ll Do

  • Create engaging content for Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms
  • Promote summer reading programs, events, and community partnerships
  • Capture and edit photos/videos from live events and activities
  • Track engagement and suggest ways to expand reach
  • Bring fresh ideas and creative energy to how we connect with the community

What We’re Looking For

  • Someone who naturally notices what’s interesting and worth sharing
  • Curious, creative, and not afraid to try something new
  • Able to follow through—ideas are great, execution matters
  • Comfortable being around people and capturing real moments
  • Organized enough to keep things moving without being micromanaged
  • Brings good energy (we can teach tools—we can’t teach that)

What You’ll Gain

  • Real-world experience managing digital content for a public organization
  • Portfolio-worthy projects (you’ll leave with actual work you can show)
  • Collaboration across teams (youth services, outreach, adult programming)
  • Insight into how libraries serve as community hubs—especially during peak programming season

Eligibility

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university program
  • Eligible for internship credit or campus funding (if applicable)

How to Apply

Submit:

  • Resume
  • A short paragraph (50–100 words) about your favorite book and why you’d want to help a library share stories with the community
