Director of Operations
- Strategic Planning
- Manage P&L for all showroom and distribution partners, includes negotiating rates and coding expenditures
- Maintain financial models to monitor and provide recommendations on company growth opportunities
- Advise on identified company objectives via qualitative and quantitative metrics
- Complete research and analysis on all strategic initiatives to estimate costs and forecast capital needs
- Assess product profitability and performance based on defined metrics
- Track supplier costs and define product pricing for new releases
- Financial Oversight
- Create project and initiative budgets
- Track expenditures across related functional areas
- Prepare and interpret financial and operational reports; demonstrate strong numerical and analytical capability to drive informed decision-making
- 3rd Party Warehousing
- Build effective relationship(s) with warehouse owners, account managers and team members(s)
- Complete ongoing analysis on warehouse expenditures and provide recommendations on expense trends, process efficiency and tactical opportunities for cost reduction
- Assess growth of product categories against new warehouse solutions as needed
- Manage all aspects of efficiency improvements and ongoing training for warehouse relationships – including technology enhancements, process improvements, and/or other changes to address growth
- Vendor and Freight Management
- Oversee relationships with all mill partners – build effective relationships in support company objectives
- Maintain ongoing freight strategy and pursue freight cost saving initiatives (international, domestic, etc. for both imports and customer shipments) via monthly and quarterly analysis
- Work with Senior Manager, Operations to monitor and make decisions on freight forwarders and approach for importing products to achieve ongoing cost management
- Project Management
- Manage ongoing planning and execution of operations workplan – includes adding all milestones and related tasks and activities with corresponding due dates
- Establish strong rapport with all Z+F team members to facilitate cross functional initiatives
- New Product Launches + Distributor Partnerships
- Manage definition of project and collection roadmaps and identification of all milestone dates for new product launches; act as a liaison with workrooms and manufacturers to create required materials
- Oversee all merchandizing and display needs across showroom partners, managing each partner’s Z+F display and required needs to support Z+F sales – includes a quarterly check in with each showroom as well as annual and collection-specific communications to ensure all partners are aligned with upcoming launches
- Staff Management
- Participate in the recruiting, interview and hiring process for direct reports and team members
- Supervise operations, production, procurement and sampling departments, including inventory management
- Operate as tactical backup when team members are out of the office – this role is cross-trained to execute jobs of all direct reports
- Software + Website
- Become a superuser of Z+F inventory/sales software across end-to-end processes
- Identify requirements and use cases for all ongoing enhancements
- Manage development and testing of all software enhancements and resolution of break-fix issues
- Reporting
- Complete weekly and monthly reporting
- Determine opportunities to automate and/or streamline reporting
- Tackle new projects as identified
- Support NYC showroom events as needed
- Execute other project-based activities based on guidance from supervisor
Qualifications
- 10-15 years’ experience in a management level role with direct reports
- Ability to pivot from strategy to tactical implementation
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated achievement in analysis – both qualitative and quantitative
- Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- High Level of Excel Proficiency – ability to do vlookups, build macros and create/utilize pivot tables
