Juvenile Detention Officer

Responsibilities

Under direct supervision, is responsible for performing intake services, custody services, and helping to plan, implement, and evaluate programming on his/her respective shift.

Requirements

You must have obtained a minimum of 60 credit hours from an accredited college, university or community college, preferably with major course work in criminal justice, psychology, sociology, social work, or related social sciences or a high school diploma with at least two years prior employment in law enforcement or experience in a residential care, specialized care, or detention facility. Applicants must be 21 years of age. Applicants must be on the Administrative Office of Illinois Courts hiring eligibility list at the time of employment offer. Must be a U.S. Citizen and have a valid driver’s license. Must pass a criminal and DCFS background check as well as a drug screening.
YOU MUST HAVE THE ABILITY TO WORK ON ANY SHIFT.

Skills

Ability and desire to work with delinquent youth in a secure detention setting which may require physical restraint of minors; knowledge of the criminal justice system.

Benefits

Annual salary of $57,509.00; health, dental, and life insurance; pension plan; deferred compensation option; paid vacation, sick and personal time.
