National Park Foundation Internship

Role Overview: 

The National Park Foundation is excited to announce our 2026 Summer Internship Program! To promote the mission and goals of the National Park Foundation, we are seeking ambitious, proactive, and passionate college sophomores and juniors to learn more about our organization and assist our departments for the summer. We are seeking five interns with unique interests and skills to aid departments with their specific needs – but most importantly, we are seeking individuals who are invested in the future and wellbeing of our National Parks.

 

Who We Are: 

Founded in 1967 through a congressional charter, the National Park Foundation is the official nonprofit partner of the National Park Service. For over 50 years, the National Park Foundation has helped protect and preserve America's most treasured places. In partnership with the National Park Service, the National Park Foundation supports more than 400 parks and historical sites across the country. From generating private support to conserving landscapes, wildlife, and natural resources, the National Park Foundation plays a vital role in ensuring national parks are preserved for present and future generations. Each department at the National Park Foundation plays a vital part in ensuring the success of the national parks – and we are excited to have you a part of it!

 

Structure of the Internship: 

Our Internship Program is seeking five college students to learn more about our organizational mission, values, and strategies throughout the Summer of 2026. Students pursuing degrees in the following areas are encouraged to apply: Political Science, Marketing, Human Resources, Information Technology, Finance/Business, or Environmental Studies.

The program will run from June 1 to August 7. All candidates must be local or willing to relocate to the Washington, D.C. area. Interns will work in the Washington, D.C headquarters Monday-Thursday, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and compensated at $22 per hour plus a Metro Card stipend or daily parking reimbursement.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Pursuing studies in one of the following areas: Political Science, Information Technology, Marketing, Human Resources, Finance/Business, or Environmental Studies.
  • Must be an undergraduate student who will have completed their sophomore or junior year by the start of the internship.
  • Must be local to the Washington, D.C. area or willing to relocate for the entire duration of the internship.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience with Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Highly organized with great attention to detail, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and time management skills.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States throughout the entire duration of the internship. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
