Position Summary

We are looking for an R&D Lab Intern to support the development and optimization of processes for critical mineral recovery. In this role, you will contribute to laboratory testing, data-collection and process scale-up while working alongside senior chemists & engineers to enhance efficiency and sustainability. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in an R&D laboratory applying and strengthening your lab skills. Along with learning industry specific techniques and more on an innovative industry focused on advancing the circular economy and reducing reliance on virgin materials.

 

About Momentum

What We Hope You Bring:

• A flexible and adaptable mindset, with a willingness to work in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, material science, environmental science or other related fields.
• Must have taken and completed classroom plus lab portions of general chemistry I & II.
• Currently enrolled or have taken quantitative analysis and instrumental labs is a plus.
• Basic knowledge in lab techniques like gravimetry, titrations, phase separations, vacuum filtration and equipment such as pH meters, pipettes, and analytical balances.
• Any experience in R&D lab is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Testing and Validation
• Collaboration and Documentation
• Prepare and execute experiments, analytical testing, or validation tasks.
• Conduct data collection and analysis to validate experiment/process performance.
• Communicate and provide technical recommendations based on experimental results.
  
   
• Work closely with senior engineers, chemists, and cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
• Maintain accurate documentation of process development, testing, and optimization efforts.
• Stay updated on industry advancements in critical mineral recovery and recycling technologies.

• Safety and Compliance
• Learn and follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
• Identify and mitigate potential hazards in chemical handling and laboratory process development.
• Help with and completes quality control tasks.
