AI Engineering Intern

AI Intern (Summer)

Note: Candidates who currently require or will require employment sponsorship now or in the future are not eligible for this position.

Pond is seeking an AI Intern to support the design and deployment of AI-enabled applications that enhance our technical and business operations. This role will work closely with senior engineering leadership to help integrate modern AI capabilities into enterprise systems and contribute to scalable solutions that improve knowledge access, digital workflows, and operational efficiency.

This is a hands-on opportunity to gain real-world experience building and deploying AI solutions in a production-oriented environment. The ideal candidate is curious, technically strong, and eager to learn how AI is applied within complex industries such as architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC).

Key Responsibilities

Support Development: Assist in designing, building, and testing AI-enabled applications within an enterprise environment.

Integrate AI Tools: Help integrate large language model (LLM) APIs and related AI services into internal platforms and workflows.

Contribute to RAG Systems: Support the development and refinement of retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems using structured and unstructured data.

Collaborate & Learn: Work alongside AI engineers, software developers, and domain experts to translate business needs into technical solutions.

Data & Testing: Assist with data preparation, evaluation, and performance testing of AI models and systems.

Document & Improve: Help document processes, prototypes, and findings to support ongoing development and scalability.

Required Qualifications

Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field

Familiarity with Python (preferred) or C#

Basic understanding of APIs and how systems integrate

Exposure to AI/ML concepts, particularly large language models (LLMs)

Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment

Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with both technical and non-technical team members

Preferred Experience (Nice to Have)

Experience with projects involving LLMs, chatbots, or AI-powered applications

Familiarity with vector databases, embeddings, or RAG concepts

Coursework or projects involving machine learning or data engineering

Interest in applying AI within technical industries (AEC or similar)

Personal or academic projects hosted on GitHub or similar platforms
