Instructional Design Assistant (Student Worker)

USC’s Center for Excellence in Teaching (CET) supports USC faculty with course development, teaching practices, and digital learning resources.

We are currently seeking a student worker to assist the CET team with website updates, Brightspace course building, multimedia editing, and general office support. The student worker will work approximately 8-10 hours per week (scheduled as agreed upon).

This position is primarily on campus. Remote candidates are encouraged to apply; however, remote work requires additional approval.

The student worker will assist CET staff with building and updating pages for the new CET website (no coding required) and creating course components in Brightspace using materials provided by CET staff. Responsibilities may include uploading content, organizing modules, and formatting course pages in Brightspace. The student worker will not be responsible for designing course content but will support the implementation of materials developed by CET staff. Additional responsibilities include basic to intermediate video editing (Camtasia or similar tools), creating simple graphics, and supporting general office tasks such as data entry and document formatting.

We’re looking for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and collaboratively with CET team members. The student worker should feel comfortable sharing progress on assigned tasks and contributing to materials that may be published on the CET website.

Training will be provided.

  • Experience creating graphics or visual materials using Canva or similar tools.
  • Ability to create and organize course components in Brightspace using materials provided by CET staff, including uploading content, building modules, and formatting course pages.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Strong communication skills, transparency about task progress, and the ability to complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Fluency in both Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite (Drive, Docs, and Sheets).
