LCER may award 1 Additional Step on the Certificated Salary Schedule for being Bilingual and 2 Additional Steps on the Certificated Salary Schedule for holding a Bilingual Authorization

DESCRIPTION:
GENERAL EDUCATION TEACHER – Dual Immersion (Spanish/English) will provide instruction to students in grade-level appropriate subject matter within a Dual Immersion general education classroom. Hands-on/experiential instruction, educational technology integration and innovative ideas are strongly encouraged. The General Education Teacher will offer input regarding curricular decisions, attend appropriate meetings, communicate regularly with parents regarding students’ progress, work with students and parents to offer advice and support, engage in ongoing professional development, and be an active participant of the Professional Learning Community (PLC).

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Instruct students in grade level appropriate subject matter in dual immersion Spanish/English classes
- Design and deliver instructional plans that are focused on student mastery of content standards
- Provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education
- Design and deliver learning experiences that develop students’ 21st Century Skills: critical thinking and problem solving, creative thinking, communication, collaboration, and global citizenship
- Create and maintain a safe learning environment that reflects diversity and encourages constructive and productive interactions amongst students
- Create and maintain a rigorous learning environment with high expectations and appropriate supports for all students
- Engage appropriate instructional strategies, resources and technologies to support the learning of all students
- Implement second language acquisition strategies to support English Learners
- Use a variety of formative and summative assessment techniques to establish learning goals and to plan, differentiate, and modify instruction
- Collaborate with colleagues, the professional community, and parents to support student learning outcomes
- Engage and participate in Lewis Center programs, such as GAVRT, as appropriate
- Promote and integrate real-world STEAM experiences, such as working with non-profits, industry partners or STEAM organizations to the extent feasible. (ie: Mojave Environmental Educational Consortium, NASA/JPL, universities, etc.)
- Communicate and interact in an encouraging and professional manner with students, parents, staff and community
- Maintain appropriate records and follow required procedures and practices
- Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, materials and facilities
- Select and requisition books, instructional materials and instructional supplies and maintain required inventory records
- Assist in accomplishing school, department and Lewis Center goals and initiatives
- Plan and coordinate the work of instructional assistants, student teacher assistants, and classroom volunteers as appropriate
- Perform basic attendance accounting, student grading, and SIS data entry in a timely manner as required
- Attend mandatory meetings (IEP, SST, PLC, department/grade level, Lewis Center, et al) as requested by supervisor

- Two current professional letters of recommendation (drafted no more than 2 years ago)
- Copy of required credential or university intern eligibility letter
- Continue to improve as a professional educator by engaging in LCER-provided and independent professional growth opportunities
- Supervise students in a variety of school-related settings
- Participate in research projects, partnerships and grant work as needed
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor or designee
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Valid California Teaching Credential or permit authorizing service as a teacher within the designated assignment
- California Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential
- AND Bilingual Authorization in Spanish (BCLAD Spanish or BASP) required
- Fluent in Spanish (speaking, reading and writing)
- Must meet ESSA requirements
- A certificate showing that within the last 60 days the person has submitted to a tuberculosis risk assessment and if tuberculosis risk factors were identified, has been examined by a physician, nurse practitioner, or local health department and has been found to be free of infectious tuberculosis
- Candidates selected for employment are required to be fingerprinted and cleared by the CA Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigations through the Lewis Center (LCER)
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three (3) years’ experience teaching the assigned content to the designated grade level students preferred
- Particular strength in designated content area

- Ability to teach assigned content to designated grade levels

- Dexterity of hands and fingers to feel objects, tools, or controls and to operate a laptop, swivel, and other equipment for extended periods of time
