Center for Sustainability | Fellow Job Description 

June 2026 – August 2028

 

NOTE: The Agnes Scott Sustainability Fellow position is only available to Agnes Scott seniors graduating May 2026. This position is a two-year commitment. Interviews will be conducted mid-April and the position will be awarded before the first week of May. 

 

Nature of Work:

The Sustainability Fellow will work to create a culture of sustainability, climate action and justice on campus by engaging students, faculty and staff. The Fellow will be the primary information source for contacts both on and off campus about the Center for Sustainability (the Center). The Fellow will organize and promote initiatives that support the college’s goal to reach carbon neutrality by 2037 and also encourage a campus wide awareness of the impacts of global climate change, including climate and environmental justice. 

 

Examples of Work Performed: 

  • Coordinate and collaborate on events with other departments, centers, clubs and organizations to raise awareness, provide education, and encourage action
  • Support the Environmental Residents through improving leadership skills and meeting sustainability education goals outlined in the ER Curriculum
  • Attend the Green Team, Arboretum Advisory Committee, Green Revolving Fund meetings and support the implementation of their annual initiatives
  • Attend the Climate Resilience Plan Task Force and Subcommittee meetings and ensure the lens of environmental justice is applied to all aspects of the implementation plan, communication and assessment; support the CRP through meeting and documentation management
  • Coordinate waste diversion and reduction initiatives, ensuring the implementation of a zero waste policy, focusing on college events, support for free stores and swaps to address food and clothing security
  • Manage and support the demonstration garden, raised bed garden program, and greenhouse and engage interested clubs/organizations and courses
  • Develop messaging for the Center by generating design and content for the website and social media
  • Assist faculty at their request to incorporate sustainability into their courses
  • Assist in the completion of LEED projects on campus and educate the campus community on the impacts of LEED and other energy and water efficiency upgrades
  • Participate in the AASHE conference (or other climate action, justice and sustainability-related conferences) and assist student presenters in developing conference sessions (if applicable – not virtual)

Hourly:

$19 per hour for 35 hours per week; at maximum $34,580

 

Monday-Friday | in-person | 8:30am-4:30pm with a one hour lunch

Summer Hours (June 1 – Aug 7) | Monday-Thursday | in-person | 8:00am-5:15pm with a 30 minute lunch

 

Benefits:

Holiday/Vacation/Personal Time: 23 days off throughout the year, 14 personal hours, 75 vacation hours
