Role Overview:
We are looking for a Paralegal to join our team. Contact us if you are interested in gaining hands on experience in bankruptcy, related litigation matters, and hands-on work reorganizing small businesses and supporting their turnaround efforts.
Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of attorneys, you will be expected to perform the following tasks
- Work directly with clients on pre-bankruptcy case commencement tasks to obtain, analyze, process, and input required information to fill out bankruptcy petitions, schedules, first day motions, and supporting documents. You will be expected to ask probing and direct questions while maintaining good client relations.
- Draft and review pleadings, including motions, responses, disclosure statements, plans, discovery requests and responses, and other related legal documents.
- Ensure clients follow the reporting and compliance requirements of the Office of the United States Trustee, including the initial 7-day package, monthly and quarterly operating reports, and U.S. Trustee fees.
- Execute all service requirements under the Bankruptcy Code, Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure, and all other applicable rules (including local rules and court-specific rules).
- Download, review, and organize documents. Manage document productions to and from opposing parties. Maintain and organize physical and electronic case files.
- Prepare materials for lawyer and witness review.
- Maintain a legal calendar, ensuring deadlines for hearings, motions, discovery and depositions, and case confirmation are met.
- Effectively manage and prioritize multiple litigation tasks while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy, organization, and professionalism.
- Communicate directly with attorneys and clients regarding case status, updates, and necessary steps.
Qualifications:
- Highest level professionalism and conduct.
- Ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously and properly prioritize and manage their respective tasks.
- Law School graduate (or in final semester) with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
- You should apply here if you meet the above requirements and graduated law school and took the bar exam but did not pass the bar exam.
- Expertise in Microsoft Word and Excel and Adobe Acrobat Pro. Familiarity with case management software. Willing to learn WordPerfect.
- Organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to focus.
- Writing (without AI assist and or AGI prompts) skills including drafting legal documents, memorandums, and client correspondences.
- Ability to work under and with attorney supervision and independently.

This is a full time on-site position. Hybrid and remote work opportunities are not provided. Salary ranges posted online are our best guess. Compensation will be based on experience and we make no guarantees that your salary will be in the posted range. We are located by Freeways 5, 405, and the 118.
