Production Operations Manager - Vollwerth and Company - Hancock, MI

Vollwerth & Co. seeks a highly motivated Production Operations Manager to lead and direct daily operations at our Hancock, Michigan facility.  The successful candidate will drive productivity, efficiency, and profitability while maintaining our long-standing commitment to quality, cleanliness, and food safety. This role requires strong leadership, operational expertise, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments in a fast-paced production environment. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan, direct, and oversee daily operations across the production and packaging departments.
• Develop and manage daily production schedules and coordinate workflow between departments.
• Serve as HACCP Coordinator and oversee all HACCP-related compliance activities.
• Manage and enforce SSOP policies and procedures to ensure plant sanitation and regulatory compliance at all times.
• Supervise staff, establish work schedules, monitor and evaluate performance, and oversee recruitment and placement of team members.
• Oversee quality control processes to ensure products meet company and regulatory standards. 
• Manage purchasing of raw materials including beef, pork, natural and artificial casings, and packaging materials. 
• Operate production equipment in a backup capacity when needed and train operators as necessary.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational efficiency and profitability.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree in Operations Management or related field (or equivalent experience) is required.
• Industry-relevant production experience, preferably in food or meat processing preferred.
• Strong knowledge of business management, human resource management, and project management principles.
• Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Strong planning, organizing, and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to delegate effectively and foster teamwork.
• Strong conflict management and interpersonal skills.

SCHEDULE: Full-time. In-person position based in Hancock, Michigan.

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS:

• Salary ranging from $46,824.14 - $80,000 annually based on education and experience.
