Entry Level Civil Engineer
Shaffer, Johnston, Lichtenwalter & Associates, Inc., (SJL) an Ohio civil engineering consulting and surveying firm, is currently looking for an entry level civil engineer for two full-time positions, one in each of our Mansfield and Wooster, Ohio offices for residential, commercial and industrial land development, bridge, highway, street, drainage and hydraulic design.
The successful candidate will have:
- A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
- Co-op and summer internships will also be considered
- Passage of the F.E. exam for Engineer Intern status is preferred
- Willingness to learn a variety of civil engineering design tasks
- Should be willing to live in or near Richland County in north central Ohio
- Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel and Word are preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment under the supervision of a senior engineer
Job responsibilities
- Assist senior engineers in the planning and design of a variety of projects
- Coordination with surveyors in preparing existing base mapping
- Preparation of grading plans, storm water management design and reports
- Storm sewer design
- Water and wastewater design
- Preparation of Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans
- Street and Roadway design including plan and profile sheets and cross sections
- Structural design including bridges, culverts and headwalls
- Assistance with preparing all calculations, notes, details, reports and permits
