Summer VISTA Responsible AI Curriculum Creator

Position Overview

The Hardy Center is seeking a Summer VISTA member to help develop programming focused on responsible technology use and artificial intelligence awareness for students in our summer educational program. As technology and AI tools become increasingly integrated into daily life, it is important for students to understand how to use these tools responsibly, safely, and ethically.

The Summer VISTA Responsible AI & Technology Safety member will help design lessons and activities that introduce students to topics such as digital citizenship, online safety, responsible AI use, media literacy, and critical thinking about technology.

This position is ideal for students interested in technology, artificial intelligence, education, digital literacy, ethics, or youth programming.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop lessons and activities on responsible technology use and AI awareness for elementary and middle school students
• Create programming that teaches digital citizenship, online safety, and responsible use of emerging technologies
• Help students understand the benefits and risks of artificial intelligence and digital tools
• Design activities that encourage critical thinking about online information, algorithms, and media literacy
• Organize educational resources that teachers can use to guide discussions about technology and digital responsibility
• Research best practices for technology safety and responsible AI education for youth
• Support the integration of technology literacy into the broader summer program

Preferred Qualifications

• Interest in technology, artificial intelligence, digital ethics, or cybersecurity
• Interest in education, digital literacy, or youth development
• Ability to translate complex technology topics into age-appropriate learning experiences
• Strong research, organization, and communication skills
• Creativity in designing interactive learning activities
• Experience working with youth or educational programs is preferred but not required
