School Principal
The Rutland Northeast Supervisory Union and the Neshobe Elementary School community seek a creative, collaborative, and dynamic educational leader to serve as Principal of Neshobe Elementary School beginning July 2026.
Neshobe Elementary is a PK–6 school located in rural Forest Dale, Vermont, serving the communities of Brandon, Forest Dale, and Goshen. Our school community believes in the potential of every student and is committed to providing a safe, and supportive learning environment that fosters academic growth and strong relationships among students, staff, and families.
The Principal builds, maintains, and advocates for an educational environment that supports the academic success of all students. This environment must be aligned with the Rutland Northeast, and Otter Valley Global Ends and Vermont's Educational Quality Standards. The principal provides instructional and curricular leadership, consistent with RNESU and local school district policies, as well as state and federal laws.
The Principal demonstrates leadership aligned with the Professional Standards for Educational Leaders (PSEL, 2015), fostering a school culture grounded in equity, excellence, and continuous improvement. The principal upholds all ten PSEL standards from cultivating an inclusive community of care to building professional capacity in service of every student's academic success and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
Leads systemic school improvement by setting yearly and long-range goals aligned with the SU mission, monitoring progress through diverse data indicators, and reporting outcomes to the school community.
Provides instructional leadership by overseeing standards-based curriculum, coordinating with the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment, and ensuring continuous improvement in student learning.
Manages school operations, budget, and facilities in collaboration with district leadership, ensuring safe, effective, and legally compliant daily functioning.
Supervises, evaluates, and supports all professional and support staff in accordance with RNESU policy, collective bargaining agreements, and best practice.
Advocates for equitable, high-quality educational programs and resources with the superintendent, school board, and at the local, regional, and state level.
Maintains strong, positive partnerships with students, families, staff, and the broader community to promote a respectful and inclusive school culture.
Coordinates student support services, including special education programming, in compliance with IDEA, Section 504, and all applicable laws and IEP requirements.
Models professional ethics, effective communication, and collaboration across all levels of the organization.
