Westwood Country Club & The Pool
Westwood Country Club was founded in 1954 and is a member-owned, full-service, family-oriented club that has been established to provide its membership with outstanding recreational, dining and social opportunities. Westwood Country Club is a 157-acre property with an elegantly appointed clubhouse, an 18-hole golf course, a tennis facility (indoor and outdoor courts), fitness center and a swimming facility.
The pool facilities were renovated this year with the goal of further providing excellent service to the Club’s members and their guests.
Summary:
The Food & Beverage (F&B) Intern will primarily work with FOH staff, primarily at the Pool. The F&B Intern serves Westwood’s membership by supervising the Pool Snack Bar staff, ensuring consistently good service. They also assist with Pool events, helping at multiple steps of the process. They will also spend some time in the main clubhouse, learning and assisting there as needed and available.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Be responsible as the manager on duty when scheduled as such.
- Supervise & manage FOH Pool Snack Bar staff, including Snack Bar Attendants, Snack Bar Bartenders, Snack Bar Cocktail Servers, and the Pool Supervisor.
- Fill in for any FOH Pool Snack Bar position when needed.
- Coach and correct FOH Pool Snack Bar staff as needed.
- Oversee FOH Pool Snack Bar staff training and hiring, when available.
- Create staff schedule for FOH Pool Snack Bar staff, working within availabilities and requests off, working within the confines of the labor budget.
- Ensure member satisfaction, diffusing situations and addressing issues as needed.
- Keep a clean and organized Snack Bar and pool deck.
- Communicate effectively and clearly with staff and members.
- Have a solid understanding of the Snack Bar menu, able to answer basic questions about food and drinks.
- Complete all side work and cleaning assigned, as well as oversee FOH Pool Snack Bar staff completing side work and cleaning.
- Ensure all opening, closing, and cleaning tasks are completed.
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance, maintaining personal hygiene.
- Maintain a positive work attitude, assisting members and staff as needed.
- Ensure established safety practices are followed.
- Assist in planning some pool events, such as Teen Takeover, with the help of the F&B Management team.
- Assist in overseeing pool events, such as Swimming Under the Stars, swim meets, birthdays, and other events.
- Assist with inventory counting and inventory management.
- Assist in the main clubhouse as needed and available.
- Perform any additional assignments and duties as assigned by management.

Schedule & Availability
- Flexible scheduling to involve working peak periods such as weekends and holidays.
- Hours will fluctuate based on schedule, volume, weather, and budgetary requirements.
Qualifications:
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude in a high volume area.
- Are able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluent in English, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Can meet the full job description, follow the duties listed, and assist in other responsibilities and tasks as needed.
- Ability to be patient, flexible, and adaptable to changing situations.
- Must have at least a basic understanding of alcoholic drinks, such as liquors, cocktails, wines, and beers.
- Pass a background check clearance.
- Must be 18 years old or older.
- Preferred: Bartending experience.
- Preferred: Work experience in a Food & Beverage supervisory or management role.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift and or move up to 50 pounds.
- Can maintain a clean work environment with proper and safe use of cleaning chemicals.
- Has reliable transportation to and from work.
- Flexibility with weather.
