Property Staff Accountant

Role Description

The Property Staff Accountant position is responsible for, but not limited to, day-to-day accounting functions for a portfolio of retail properties owned by LBX Investments LLC. The Staff Accountant is also responsible for documenting processes and identifying potential process/control improvements.

Roles & responsibilities:

1. Ensure invoices for properties are entered and processed accurately and timely.

2. Manage Account Payables function, code, and processed accurately and timely.

3. First point of contact for vendor payment inquiries and tenant ledger questions.

4. Responsible for the monthly billing.

5. Responsible for providing utility billing to tenant billing provider.

6. Responsible for incoming ACH payments and wire transactions.

7. Responsible for running aging reports and communicating with tenants if payment is not received on time.

8. Complete bank reconciliations, journal entries, and month end closing.

9. Update tenant’s escrows yearly according to the current year’s budget.

10. Prepare account reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts, report any discrepancies immediately to management, and assist in resolution of issues.

11. Perform all general ledger responsibilities for assigned properties in a timely fashion. The responsibilities include reviewing the monthly revenues and expenses, preparing any accruals that are needed, producing the month-end P&L and balance sheet, and reconciling all balance sheet accounts.

12. Assist in the preparation of the monthly reporting package. Work closely with asset/property management to ensure timely and insightful analysis of property operating expenses.

13. Work with property management to ensure timely billing of annual common area maintenance, insurance, and property tax reconciliations.

14. Perform ad hoc analyses as needed.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Journal Entries and General Accounting tasks
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Experience in the real estate industry is a plus
  • Yardi experience preferred
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
