Nonprofit Operations Intern
Eligibility is for Off-Campus Federal Work Study Program recipients only.
This position will assist the Executive Director and Operations Manager with museum operations, communications, fundraising, project management of installations, grants, and events, as well as provide volunteer and event support. Our season is May through October. We host a duck race on the canal, free lunch Fridays, jazz events, canal cleanups, marathon cheering, an Oatmeal Festival and provide pop-up programs.
- Assist with garden and grounds projects
- Support museum visitor services
- Help with marketing and social media
- Assist with fundraising and grants
- Work alongside staff and volunteers
- Welcome and engage museum visitors
- Provide historical interpretation
- Operate point-of-sale system
- Support volunteers and events
- Assist with exhibits, installations, and programming
- Other duties as assigned
Related experience, studies, or interest in some, but not all of the following: community engagement, retail operations, event operations, small museum administration, nonprofit operations, event coordination, volunteer collaboration, public engagement, marketing, communications, recreation, arts, fundraising, grant writing, project management, and history.
Must desire a casual, yet professional work environment, be flexible, have strong communication skills, ability to work with the public and volunteers, be creative, and work hard, yet have fun in a positive workplace.
The ability to lift up to 25lbs and willingness to work outdoors and on the weekends when necessary is a plus.
Training is provided. $20 monthly phone stipend.
