From the Land of Kansas Member Coordinator

Location: KDA Headquarters - Manhattan, Kansas
Position Summary & Responsibilities:
This position will support the agency’s state agriculture trademark program, From the Land of Kansas. The position serves as the trademark membership coordinator which supports Kansas agriculture businesses and helps them achieve their goals when promoting to consumers. In addition, this position will focus on agribusiness development of the specialty crop and farm winery businesses and industries in the state.
This position will cover a variety of responsibilities pivotal for the success and growth of the trademark program and the growth of the industries noted. In addition, this position will be a liaison with organizations across the state focused on value-added food products, farm wineries and distilleries, specialty crops, and farmers’ markets. The position will spend approximately 80% of their time on trademark focused activities, 10% of their time on farmers’ markets and 10% of their time on industry development. Duties include but are not limited to:
Member and Farmers' Market Management and Recruitment
- Manage incoming inquiries about membership, partnership and supporters
- Process new member applications
- Onboard new members
- Prepare certificates, letters and stickers to send out member packets
- Work with members to keep information current
- Farmers' Market Registration and updates
- Tracking membership payments and projects
- Oversee list of prospective members and visits
- Partner with marketing manager on member visits and to recruit partners and supporters/Travel approx. 30% of time domestically
- Edit photos: Logos, member photos and social media
- Assist with member questions and respond to email
- New member calls to welcome them to the program
- Member renewals
- Assist with tracking success of the program
- Assist with fulfilling member benefits (barcodes, social media, design, email blast, member features and blog etc.)
- Assist with member and consumer newsletter
- Assist with execution of social media calendar plan
Event and Project Coordination
- Coordination of From the Land of Kansas events
- State fair, Pop-up Stores, Local Food Producer Workshops etc.
- Assist with Holiday Gift Box program
Business and Industry Development
- Assist with grant writing and management
- Enter From the Land of Kansas purchase orders into system
- Lead a sector for Ag Growth and assist with other sectors
Website Management
- CMS and Shop site assistance
- Assist Marketing coordinator with product photos and descriptions
- Assist with order oversight and fulfillment
Qualifications & Skills:
- Professionally minded individuals with at least four years of direct experience in marketing, an agriculture-related field, or general business field. Candidates may also qualify through a combination of relevant work experience, training, education or certification.
- Working knowledge of and/or experience in the agriculture and food industry is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and cultivate relationships and lead cross-functional teams.
- Excellent presentation, communication, and collaboration ability with people at all levels.
- Previous Marketing experience and project management preferred.
- Strong multi-tasking, project management and prioritization skills.
- Ability to travel 30% domestically.
- This position requires the physical dexterity that permits standing, kneeling, bending, and stretching, and climbing up and down steps, lifting objects and traversing slippery/uneven surfaces.
- This position must perform routine office tasks such as sitting, reading, examining documents, and viewing a computer for long periods of time.
- Lift and/or carry 35 pounds of equipment.
- Drive a vehicle for long periods of time which may result in overnight travel.
- Employee must have a valid Class C (or higher) Kansas driver’s license or equivalent license from another state. Employee is responsible to maintain an acceptable driving record to safely drive state vehicle and be willing and able to fulfill all job-related travel normally associated with this position.
