Accounting Intern
Under the close supervision of the Comptroller, this internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the intern’s field of study while making a meaningful impact on our organization and local communities by helping to protect and improve water quality.
For all positions at the District, enhanced safety precautions are in place for essential operations. This internship requires on-site work in the laboratory, office, or field.
Duties:
- Duties to be performed are intended to provide broad exposure to accounting department functions. They may span multiple areas of the accounting department and may include the following:
- Accounts payable transactional work: process vendor invoices, verify coding, reconcile vendor statements
- Accounts receivable transactional work: customer billing, assist with cash receipts posting and accounts receivable aging reviews
- Help prepare materials for Commission presentations, support month-end processes with general ledger journal preparation, or other functions as necessary
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled college student pursuing a degree in business, accounting or related field of study.
- Completion of at least two semesters of college-level accounting courses
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Work is performed in the office environment. Interns must be able to use computer equipment for extended periods and possess sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate office equipment. Visual acuity is required to read and write text and numbers. Speaking and hearing abilities are sufficient for in-person, public, and telephone communication are required. Noise levels may vary from quiet to loud.
This internship may include a hybrid work environment consistent with District policy. This role requires access to confidential and sensitive information. The employee is expected to maintain strict confidentiality and handle all information in accordance with company policies.
