Graphic Design Intern

SUMMARY

The Graphic Design & Digital Communications Intern will support HPSI’s multimedia and web initiatives by creating visually engaging content for internal and external audiences. This role provides hands-on experience in corporate design and multimedia production within a complex industrial environment, including exposure to digital graphics, video/photography, user experience design, and web content management.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Collaborate with the Multimedia Specialist and other communications team members to produce high-quality visual content aligned with HPSI branding.
  • Create and fulfill design requests, including TV slides, social graphics, and miscellaneous visual assets to support internal and external communications.
  • Support website redevelopment initiatives, including content updates, graphic design, and SEO optimization.
  • Contribute to intranet redevelopment projects with a focus on user experience, visual consistency, and accessibility.
  • Assist in photography and videography for internal communications, events, and multimedia projects as needed.
  • Organize and maintain digital media assets, including graphics, photos, and video files.
  • Provide ad hoc design support for presentations, campaigns, and communications initiatives.

 

COMPETENCIES

  • Graphic Design Skills: Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or similar tools; ability to create visually appealing layouts for digital and print media.
  • Visual Storytelling: Ability to communicate concepts clearly through graphics, photography, and video.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with website content management systems (CMS), basic HTML/CSS, and SEO best practices is a plus.
  • Creativity & Innovation: Brings fresh ideas to design projects and multimedia content.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensures accuracy, consistency, and alignment with branding standards.
  • Collaboration: Works effectively with cross-functional teams, including Communications, Operations, and IT.
  • Organizational Skills: Manages multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, meeting deadlines consistently.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable adjusting priorities in a fast-paced industrial environment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Rising Junior or Senior currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Communications or Marketing.
  • Minimum GPA: 3.0
  • Strong visual, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to proofread content for accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, industrial environment.
  • U.S. work authorization required — no sponsorship available.
