About FORWARD Girls Leadership Academy
FORWARD Girls Leadership Academy is a tuition-free public high school designed to expand leadership, academic excellence, and opportunity for girls in Cleveland.
Launching with a founding class of approximately 75 ninth-grade students, FORWARD is intentionally designed as a small, leadership-focused learning environment where girls develop confidence, voice, and the skills to lead in college, careers, and their communities.

Position Summary
FORWARD Girls Leadership Academy is seeking innovative, student-centered teachers to join our founding instructional team. Teachers will design engaging, rigorous instruction that challenges students to think critically, collaborate, and apply learning to real-world problems.
The ideal candidate believes deeply in the potential of girls and is excited to help build a new model of secondary education grounded in leadership, inquiry, and high expectations.
Teaching Positions Available
We are currently seeking teachers in the following subject areas:
- Mathematics
- Science
- Social Studies
- English Language Arts
- Foreign Language
- Visual Arts
- Physical Education / Health
Key Responsibilities
- Instructional responsibilities include:
- Design and deliver rigorous, standards-aligned lessons
- Implement project-based learning experiences
- Foster strong classroom culture built on respect, accountability, and high expectations
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
- Utilize data to guide instructional decisions
- Support students’ leadership development and personal growth
- Collaborate with colleagues to design interdisciplinary projects
- Participate in school-wide initiatives that build the culture and identity of FORWARD
- Teachers will also serve as mentors and advisors, supporting students academically and personally.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Eligibility for Ohio teaching licensure (or ability to obtain)
- Demonstrated commitment to student success
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Preferred:
- Experience with project-based learning
- Experience working with diverse student populations
- Commitment to girls’ leadership and empowerment
- Growth mindset and willingness to help build a new school model
