Marketing, Events & Programs Support

Position Summary

The Summer Marketing, Events & Programs Support employee assists the Soap Box Derby team with day-to-day marketing activities, event execution, and youth program support during the busy summer racing and event season. This role provides hands-on experience in nonprofit marketing, event management, and community programming in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

Events Support

  • Assist with event setup, breakdown, and on-site logistics
  • Support race days, special events, tours, and community outreach activities
  • Help with registration check-in, guest support, and volunteer coordination
  • Provide general event-day support as needed

Programs Support

  • Assist with youth education, STEM, and community programs
  • Help prepare program materials, kits, and participant resources
  • Support staff with program logistics, scheduling, and documentation

Administrative & General Support

  • Assist with data entry, reporting, and inventory tracking
  • Support coordination with volunteers, partners, and vendors
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support summer operations

Qualifications

  • Interest in marketing, communications, events, sports management, nonprofit work, or related fields
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Comfortable working in a team-oriented, hands-on environment
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required for events
  • Basic knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
  • Experience with Canva, Google Workspace, or similar tools is a plus

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods during events
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs
  • Work performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
