Summer Camp Counselor / Park & Recreation Aide
Salary: Minimum Wage – Up to $16 an hour
Job Type: Part time - Temporary
Hours: Between the hours of 9a - 4p
Employment Period: June 12 - August 1
Roles & Responsibilities
- Reports to the Summer Camp Leader
- Works at the Parker Summer Camp Program held at T. G. Young Park
- Assists the Camp Leader in supervising and interacting with children
- Maintains a safe and nurturing environment for all children
- Helps foster a positive working and playing environment while teaching life skills (respect, honesty, integrity, compassion)
- Maintains open communication with the Leader, staff, parents, and children
- Helps address children’s specific concerns or needs while maintaining confidentiality
- Communicates concerns to the Leader as they arise
- Assists in ensuring the safety and well-being of all campers
- Keeps camp supplies organized and notifies the Leader of low inventory
- Assists with preparation, serving, and storage of daily snacks and lunches
- Helps oversee campers during transportation, field trips, golf lessons, The Lake Club, and the Community Center
- Listens to and professionally handles feedback, complaints, incidents, or accidents from parents, grandparents, and children, and communicates these to the Leader
- Assists with additional recreation duties such as camp prep, park cleaning, activities, and theme days
Qualifications
- Babysitting experience preferred
- Education/Teaching Major is a plus
