Payroll and Compliance Intern
About the Role
Avidex is seeking a Payroll & Compliance Intern to support our Payroll and Compliance team. This internship provides hands-on experience supporting labor compliance activities, certified payroll reporting, and documentation management for Public Works projects.
The intern will work closely with Payroll and Compliance professionals to learn about certified payroll processes, prevailing wage regulations, and internal reporting procedures across multiple states. This is a great opportunity for a student interested in payroll, HR, accounting, or compliance operations to gain practical experience in a growing organization.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with tracking certified payroll requirements for Public Works projects across multiple states
- Organize and maintain compliance documentation and payroll records
- Support the preparation and distribution of certified payroll reports
- Research and verify prevailing wage requirements by location and job classification
- Help generate required compliance forms for California Public Works projects (DAS-140 / DAS-142)
- Assist with employee onboarding support, including timekeeping system setup
- Monitor subcontractor compliance documentation and follow up on missing items
- Support responses to government agency documentation requests or audits
- Provide general administrative support for payroll and compliance operations

What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Current student or recent graduate pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration, Payroll, or a related field
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently
Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework or internship experience related to payroll, accounting, or compliance
- Exposure to certified payroll or prevailing wage requirements
- Familiarity with tools such as LCP Tracker, DIR, or Points North
