Overview

Legacy Pro Sports, in partnership with Love 4 Vets, is seeking a detail-oriented and professional Disability Claims Specialist Intern to support former NFL players and military veterans as they navigate disability and related benefit programs.

Legacy Pro Sports works with former professional athletes to help them access NFL benefits and other support resources. Love 4 Vets, a mission-driven initiative connected to Legacy Pro Sports, focuses on assisting military veterans in navigating benefits, resources, and advocacy services.

This internship provides hands-on experience in case management, documentation review, and benefits navigation. The selected intern will assist with claim preparation, case coordination, and research under the supervision of the Director of Player Benefits and senior leadership.

This role offers exposure to the operational and administrative side of professional sports representation and veteran advocacy. Interns who demonstrate strong professionalism, discretion, and analytical ability may be considered for long-term opportunities within the organization.

What You’ll Work On

This role is structured, detail-focused, and service-oriented. Responsibilities may include:

Assisting with intake interviews to gather medical, employment, and benefits-related information

Organizing and reviewing medical records and supporting documentation

Assisting with preparation of disability and benefit claim submissions

Tracking case progress, deadlines, and required follow-ups

Drafting case summaries, timelines, and internal documentation

Coordinating documentation requests with medical providers or plan administrators

Supporting preparation for evaluations, plan-required exams, or appeals

Maintaining organized and confidential digital case files

Assisting with research related to NFL benefit plans, disability programs, and veteran resources

This position requires a high level of confidentiality, professionalism, and attention to detail.

Qualifications

Current college student or recent graduate in Business, Sports Management, Pre-Law, Legal Studies, Insurance, Healthcare Administration, Finance, or a related field

Strong written and verbal communication skills

High level of organization and attention to detail

Ability to manage deadlines and maintain strict confidentiality

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Preferred but not required:

Familiarity with disability claims, insurance, or benefits programs

Exposure to legal documentation or medical record review

Interest in athlete advocacy or veteran support services
