Data & Technology Coordinator

GENERAL DESCRIPTION 

Under general direction this position serves to support operations in the Public Service Department. Position will analyze multiple data sets and work with the administrative staff to improve efficiency, productivity, and accountability within department, and to collaborate with other departments regarding open data, reporting metrics, and other data related topics. Utilizing knowledge of departmental operations, this position will assist in the selection, implementation, and on-going staff training related to associated technology. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

Creates and runs reports; performs regular data analysis to improve efficiency, productivity, and accountability within department. Identifies trends and patterns in analyzed data and develops recommendations. Utilizes software and data analysis to improve departmental efficiency, productivity, and accountability. Oversees department specific software (e.g., on-demand brush system, ESCO, asset management, etc.); makes minor updates and repairs as needed. Serves as primary collaborator with Information Systems department; inputs departmental Request for Service tickets, assists with departmental troubleshooting, and helps answer general questions about departmental software usage. Develops and implements standard operating procedures (SOPs) for intradepartmental, interdepartmental, and public use. Establishes and leads departmental specific training on new and preexisting technology systems. Researches existing and emerging technologies; provides recommendations to leadership on how technologies could be incorporated into departmental operations. Observes departmental operations and devises best practices for technology implementation to streamline processes.

Gives analytical presentations to various stakeholders. Performs related work as required. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, to various stakeholders. Ability to keep records, make reports, and effectively summarize and present data. General knowledge of computer and software terminology and technical language. Knowledge of the objectives and priorities of the department; ability to apply to work duties with a progressive mindset. Ability to synthesize data, identify patterns, and translate findings into actionable recommendations for department leadership. Ability to understand and use various file and data structures. Ability to present technical information to large groups of various stakeholders. Ability establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and other employees. Ability to design file layouts, input forms, reports, run manuals, and user manuals that meet department specifications. Ability to devise best practices for technology implementation based off observing departmental operations. Strong knowledge of departmental software operations and capabilities; ability to serve as subject matter expert within the department. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

This position consists of primarily sedentary work, requiring the incumbent to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a lower amount of force frequently, in order to lift/carry, push/pull, or otherwise move objects. A description of the specific physical requirements associated with this position is maintained on file in the Human Resources office for review upon request. 

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS 

This position requires the use of logic and/or scientific thinking to define problems, collect information, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, devise and implement policies, and to manage and coordinate multiple programs or projects. A description of the specific mental requirements associated with this position is maintained on file in the Human Resources office for review upon request. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 

Graduation from an accredited high school or GED equivalent AND: Minimum of four (4) years professional experience in application development, technical training development, data analysis, or a related field. OR Minimum of three (3) years professional experience in application development, technical training development, or data analysis AND a certificate or licensure from a CHEA accredited college or university in computer science, data analytics, or a related field. OR Associates degree from a CHEA accredited college or university AND a minimum of two (2) years professional experience in application development, technical training development, data analysis, or a related field. OR Bachelors’ degree from a CHEA accredited college or university AND a minimum of 480 hours of verifiable internship experience in computer science, data analytics, or a related field.
