Summer Camp Afternoon Staff (part-time)
Job Summary: Afternoon Staff are responsible for the daily operations of our after camp program. The daily structured Day Camp program ends at 3:30pm and youth may be signed out at that time. The Afternoon Staff will monitor, engage with, and have fun with youth as they are waiting to be signed out between 3:30pm-5:30pm. Must be cooperative, friendly, and maintain a high level of communication with all staff and youth. Abide by and support the Club’s mission, vision, and values to provide a safe and positive environment for our youth.
Key Roles (Essential Job Responsibilities)
● Create a warm, kind, welcoming, and supportive environment for all youth.
● Maintain a clean work environment.
● Responsible for maintaining high standards of safety during the end of the camp day.
● Build positive, appropriate relationships with every Club member.
● Ensure that youth are following behavior and safety guidelines at all times.
● Provide age appropriate activities for youth during the end of the camp day.
● Empower youth to clean up after themselves.
● Monitor Club radios to ensure smooth and timely communication with Front Desk during sign out.
● Accept other assignments as directed.
Requirements
● Pass background check.
● CPR and First Aid Certified preferred.
● High School Diploma or GED required. College degree preferred. A minimum of 1 year experience in youth programs is required.
● Considerable knowledge of the mission, vision, values, objectives, policies, programs, and procedures of Boys & Girls Clubs and the basic principles and practices of non-profit organizations.
● Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
● Ability to manage multiple tasks and develop solutions to problems with limited supervision.
● Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with club staff and families.
● Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Must be available to attend our paid Staff Training May 28-May 29 (dates & times may change if the Wooster School District utilizes make up days at the end of the school year.)
- Must be available to work M-F, June 1-July 31. Time off for vacations will not be permitted.
- Staff will have June 19 off in observance of Juneteenth.
- Staff will have June 29-July 3 off in observance of Independence Day and for a mid-summer break.
