Seasonal Research Assistant

The Department of Plant Pathology and Ecology anticipates a Seasonal Research Assistant position at the Plant Disease Information Office. This is a wonderful opportunity to obtain professional experience in support of plant disease diagnoses and public services aimed at reducing impacts of plant diseases on crops, landscape plants, and ecosystems.  We are looking for a motivated individual with a willingness to work and learn.  Responsibilities of the position include receiving and documenting plant samples submitted for diagnosis, logging entries into a database, assisting with general laboratory tests and practices, and working in the seed testing program. Training is provided. The starting date is May 1st, 2026, and will run until Oct 31st, 2026, but have flexible start and end dates within this general timeframe.

 

The position is located at the Experiment Station’s New Haven campus at 123 Huntington Street.   The hours of work are 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday (35 hours/week), and the salary is $17.00/hour (without benefits).  If you are interested, please electronically send the following: 1) a letter indicating your interest in the position, 2) a résumé summarizing your education and work experience, 3) unofficial transcripts or summary of your course work and grades, and 4) the names and contact information for three references.
