Position Title: Director of Curriculum & Instruction

 

Reports To: Superintendent of Schools

 

Appointment Date: July 1, 2026

 

Certification: New York State SDA/SDL or SBL (Required)

 

Salary Range: Starting at $90,000 and commensurate with experience

 

Position Overview

 

The Cattaraugus-Little Valley Central School District is seeking a strategic instructional leader to serve as Director of Curriculum & Instruction beginning July 1, 2026.

 

This position is designed for a data-driven improvement strategist who will lead the district's efforts to strengthen student achievement through aligned curriculum systems, measurable instructional practices, and disciplined use of data. The successful candidate will partner with district and building leadership to analyze performance trends, close achievement gaps, and ensure instructional coherence across all grade levels.

 

This is not a maintenance role - it is a systems-building leadership position focused on continuous improvement.

 

Core Leadership Focus Areas

1. Data & Performance Systems

  • Lead analysis of student performance data (state, local, benchmark, subgroup analysis)
  • Develop clear district dashboards and progress-monitoring systems
  • Support principals and teacher teams in translating data into instructional action
  • Monitor proficiency trends, particularly among economically disadvantaged and identified subgroups
  • Coordinate district improvement planning aligned to measurable outcomes

2. Curriculum & Instructional Alignment

  • Ensure K-12 curriculum alignment to NYS Learning Standards
  • Identify gaps between the written, taught, and assessed curriculum
  • Establish consistent expectations for instructional rigor
  • Oversee MTSS and AIS program effectiveness

3. Accountability & Compliance

  • Oversee assessment administration and reporting
  • Ensure alignment with NYSED mandates, APPR systems, and accountability measures
  • Support ESSA-funded program effectiveness and evidence-based implementation

4. Professional Learning & Leadership Development

  • Design professional development grounded in data and instructional priorities
  • Build internal teacher leadership capacity
  • Support instructional coaching structures across the district

Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success improving student achievement through data-informed strategies
  • Strong background in assessment literacy and performance analysis
  • Experience leading school or district improvement initiatives
  • Knowledge of NYS accountability systems and Learning Standards
  • Ability to communicate complex data clearly to staff, Board, and community
  • Collaborative leadership style with strong systems thinking
