Career Technical Training Manager

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with center standards, standard operating procedures (SOP’s), and ePRH requirements
  • Be responsible for the operations of the career technical training (CTT) program and instructors, to ensure maximum outcomes
  • Ensure the CTT programs exceed all goals
  • Communicate department performance with the Career Development Services System (CDSS) Director
  • Make recommendations to improve trade performance
  • Develop corrective action plans for CTT programs, as needed
  • Actively participate in the weekly scheduling meeting
  • Manage the flow of students through each CTT program to ensure production and outcome goals are met on a monthly basis
  • Counsel students as necessary
  • Ensure that there is a curriculum in place for every CTT area
  • Work with the academic department to implement an applied academic program within each trade
  • Ensure that lesson plans are being developed and implemented
  • Observe CTT Classes and monitor the effectiveness of each instructor’s classroom management 
  • Ensure accuracy and timely submissions of required paperwork originated within the CTT department
  • Ensure staff members have adequate training to complete key areas of responsibility
  • Ensure that departmental staff completes all Department of Labor (DOL), corporate, and center training as required
  • Develop others: delegates tasks or responsibilities for the purpose of developing other’s abilities, reassures and encourages performance improvement, and provides timely coaching
  • Develop and implement an Industry Advisory Council
  • Develop and maintain a system to ensure that substitute instructors and tutors are available, as needed
  • Ensure that evaluations of student progress (ESP’s) are completed accurately, completely, and in a timely manner
  • Schedule staff meetings at regular intervals and ensure meeting minutes are accurate
  • Develop an implement SOPs for the CTT department 
  • Participate in the Career Mentoring Team (CMT) and ensure that all staff participate in CMT 
  • Provide support to the CDSS department to ensure student’s job readiness
  • Ensure equipment assigned to the department is properly accounted for a maintained in good condition
  • Notify the Center Director of repairs/costs above routine expenditures
  • Monitor budget for the CTT department and maintain spending limits as applicable
  • Track spending of each staff, monthly
  • Periodically audit staff time sheets to ensure compliance with corporate theme-keeping policy
  • Ensure accuracy and timely submission of all employee time sheets so as to remain in compliance with company policy

Skills/Abilities:

  • The ability to promote the Career Success Standards (CSS) by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students when necessary, and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through positive interactions
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience working with youth, from diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer proficiency with; Word, Excel, Powerpoint, outlook, CIS, and other computer programs. 

Educational Requirements/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in one of the following fields: management, administration, or education. Experience with working with students from diverse backgrounds. 
  • Experience working in a leading role such as Director, Manager.

  • Reading, writing, and communicating fluently in English

  • Exposure to heat from ovens, burners, and steam trays
  • Moderate exposure to fumes, smoke, or gasses, solvents, greases, or oils
  • Exposure to cutting and slicing equipment and other machines with moving parts
  • Exposure to moderate to high noise levels from kitchen equipment and students at mealtimes
  • May be required to work a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends
