Pollinator Habitat Intern

We have several wildlife-focused projects already underway, and we would like to pursue habitat certification. We have a pollinator and habitat project that you will be assisting on.

I. Job Summary

The Internship Experience  

As a WM Intern, you won't be sitting on the sidelines, you'll be in the mix. You will work alongside experienced professionals on real projects that make an impact for WM. You'll get real-world experience in key aspects of our business, including a meaningful project you'll own and present to senior leaders at the end of the summer, while discovering what we're all about. Outside of your core work, you'll join skill-building workshops, connect with leaders through executive roundtables, and build community with fellow interns from across the country. About the Landfill Environmental / Habitat  Team 

This internship is part of the Landfill Environmental / Habitat crew—a team known for its innovative thinking, collaborative spirit, or commitment to sustainability. You'll get to explore [specific tools, projects, or initiatives], learn how things work behind the scenes, and help WM drive purpose in everything we do. Whether you're diving into data, pitching ideas, or helping make things run smoother, what you do will matter—and we want to hear what you think. 

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Uses problem solving skills, determines problems, and understand fundamental parts of the problem.
  • Conducts analysis as directed, and prepares and delivers insights and recommendations based on analysis.
  • Synthesizes findings and draws conclusions from analyses and makes oral/written recommendations to supervisor and/or manager.
  • Executes tasks directly related to functional projects and/or process improvements.
  • Communicates issues and roadblocks related to areas of responsibility.
  • Please note that you’re expected to do 20% of travel in relation to your work.

III. Qualifications

A. Required Qualifications

  • Interns must have a High school diploma or GED (accredited) and be pursuing or have recently completed a Bachelor’s degree (accredited) in a field of study relevant to the internship. 

B. Preferred Qualifications

Junior or Senior year students in the Forestry or Environmental programs.

Project Management experience

Must be available Mid May to August.
