Development and Marketing Intern

Pay: $20/hour

Location: Hybrid (Pontiac, MI)

Lighthouse MI is a growing non-profit, established in 2019 when Lighthouse of Oakland County and South Oakland Shelter merged to provide a stronger response to poverty in Metro Detroit. With over 80 years of combined experience, Lighthouse serves as a beacon of hope to our neighbors who need it most by offering assistance with emergency basic needs alongside housing programs and supportive services designed to support long-term economic stability. Lighthouse owns and operates Spero Housing Group, a subsidiary non-profit dedicated specifically to developing and operating high quality affordable and supportive housing for persons of low and moderate income, as well as HandUp, a community and crowdfunding platform serving 100+ homeless service agencies and their clients across the United States.

 

Position Summary: 

The Development and Marketing Intern is an at-will position that reports to the Development Manager. This position will work with the development team by assisting with events, development activities, social media, digital and print marketing, and overall administration.

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare digital content and files 
  • Provide support for ongoing development activities 
  • Plan social media calendars 
  • Assist team in brainstorming social media campaigns
  • Collaborate across the organization to ensure brand standards are maintained in all marketing materials 
  • Manage print restock; items include envelopes, letterhead, flyers, etc
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Required Skills: 

  • Technical skills in Microsoft and Google Workspace services
  • Good organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Self-discipline and time management skills to work independently 
  • Good verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to work in a public and professional manner 
  • Moderate experience working with social media platforms 

 

Additional Requirements: 

  • Actively working towards or recently received a degree in social media/marketing, non-profit management, communications, social work, psychology, business, or other related fields
  • Valid US Driver's License 
  • Available up to 20 hours a week (exact days to be determined based on schedule)
