Finance Intern - Summer

Department: Finance

Reports To: Finance Manager / Controller

Location: Hybrid/St. Petersburg

Duration: Summer Internship (May-August)

Hours: Up to 40 hours a week

Position Summary

The Summer Finance Intern will support the Finance team with day-to-day financial and accounting activities while gaining hands-on experience in a professional business environment. This entry-level position is designed for students interested in pursuing a career in finance, accounting, or business and provides exposure to core financial processes, analysis, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with routine accounting and financial tasks such as data entry, reconciliations, and documentation
  • Support monthly close activities, including preparing schedules and reports
  • Help analyze financial data and identify trends, variances, or discrepancies
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling as needed
  • Support accounts payable and/or accounts receivable processes
  • Prepare and maintain spreadsheets and basic financial reports
  • Participate in special projects and ad hoc financial analyses
  • Maintain organized financial records and ensure accuracy and confidentiality
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and attend team meetings

Qualifications

Required:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field
  • Strong interest in finance and accounting principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with Word and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to handle confidential information professionally
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred:

  • Prior coursework in accounting or finance
  • Familiarity with financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow)
  • Experience with financial systems or ERP software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) a plus, but not required
