POSITION: Literacy Coach

QUALIFICATIONS:

Eligible for NJ Supervisor's or Principal's Certificate

  1. At least five years experience as a successful teacher.
  2. Master's degree or higher from an accredited college or university with an emphasis on educational administration, supervision and curriculum.
  3. Demonstrated leadership ability in working with students, staff, parents, teachers, administration and the community.

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Literacy Coach is an instructional leader who supports teachers in improving how reading and writing are taught in classrooms. The main goal of the coach is to strengthen literacy instruction so that all students become better readers, writers, and thinkers. 

REPORTS TO: School Principal

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Coach and support teachers in effective reading and writing instruction
  • Model lessons, co-plan with teachers, and provide helpful feedback
  • Lead small-group reading support through the Intervention block
  • Use student data to guide instruction
  • Provide training and professional development for staff
  • Ensure lessons include supports for multilingual learners and students with disabilities
  • Lead a literacy team to monitor progress and improve literacy practices
  • Plan and prepare instructional materials, professional learning sessions, and intervention resources aligned to student needs

 

SALARY: starting $65,000.00

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve month contracted position, Salary, hours & work year to be determined by Board in consultation with Chief Academic Officer and/or Chief Operations Officer/ Lead Person.

EVALUATION: Annually according to state statute and rule and Board policy.
