Hemmabast-Sylvan Sun Farm Co-Op is an organic vegetable farm cooperative that employs permaculture principles and engages in sustainable farming.  We offer a viable alternative to an often extraction-based and unsustainable industry.  Based on two different farms just outside of Huntingdon, we are a market vendor and manage the Huntingdon Farmers' Market, have a small subscription service, and sell vegetables to several of Huntingdon's local restaurants.  An internship with us would include farm work, an education in permaculture and sustainable farming, and help at the Huntingdon Farmers' Market on Thursdays.  The intern will help with outreach via social media and workshops and possibly offer educational farm tours.  We approach what we do with a wholistic perspective, so we engage in activities outside of farming such as volunteering for environmental nonprofits and other forms of activism.  In short, we're not just a farm cooperative, and much of what your experience with us will be what you make it.  Hours are flexible but will involve a combination of independent and directed work totaling 400 hours over the course of the summer. Payment is $5000 for the summer.

The intern must have access to a vehicle.

Housing can be arranged with the college if necessary at an affordable rate.
