Finance Summer Intern

Position
MIO’s Finance Team is seeking a rising college junior or senior to function as a Summer Intern. The Intern will be a shared resource between the Fund-of-Funds Accounting team and Private Equity team. This individual will work closely with Fund Accountants on day- to-day functions, month-end closings, and on any special projects as needed.
- Duration: The internship is a 10-week program to take place between June - August 2026.
- Working hours: 9:00-5:00 PM
- Hybrid: 2-3 days in office/the other days remote
- Compensation: $25/hour
Primary responsibilities
- Record/reconcile various cash and position transactions for one or more of our investment vehicles via our accounting system Geneva and/or private equity platform Investran
- Participate in special projects from data extraction to various process improvements as assigned by Supervisors
- Assist in compilation and analysis of data for regulatory filings and year-end fund of funds audits
- Enter and review data from financial statements to ensure records are accurate
- Assist in the preparation of tax workpapers including associated K-1s for private equity and hedge funds.
- Prepare presentation materials for meetings and internal discussions
- Perform ad hoc analysis and reconciliation as instructed by Supervisors
- Record daily accruals, price investment vehicles, and reconcile using reports from our accounting system Geneva
Desired background
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related area
- Previous internship(s) with financial institutions
- Basic knowledge of investment products (stocks/bonds/foreign currencies)
- Basic understanding of financial statements and transactions preferred, not required
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint functionality
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to multitask
- Collaborative, team-oriented mindset to work with members of other functional areas
- A strong desire to produce error-free work
- Motivation to succeed in a small, entrepreneurial environment and a willingness to take responsibility for getting things done
