Research Assistant

We seek a highly motivated and organized individual to join our efforts to study novel genetic treatment approaches for blood disorders. We are particularly focused on applying genome editing technologies to discover how blood cell functions are encoded and to develop innovative therapeutics. The selected candidate will work on experimental and computational research projects. 

A bachelor’s degree is required, preferably with formal study in molecular and cell biology, genetics, biochemistry, biophysics, gene therapy, hematopoiesis, bioinformatics/computational biology, systems biology, and/or structural/chemical biology. The candidate must be a responsible individual with strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Previous experience in scientific research would be an asset. Experience with hematopoiesis research is not required, but enthusiasm for learning modern molecular genetic and bioinformatic techniques is essential.

40 hour/week full-time position with flexible hours and competitive salary/fringe benefits. Anticipated start date is summer 2026. A 2-year minimum commitment is strongly preferred. Previous Bauer lab research assistants have co-authored peer-reviewed original research articles and have matriculated to competitive graduate school programs.
