Associate Director – Job Description


 

Day Worker Center of Mountain View


 

The Associate Director serves as a senior leader responsible for overseeing the daily operations, programs, and strategic growth of the Day Worker Center. This role works closely with the Executive Director to ensure the organization runs effectively, advances its mission, and responds to the evolving needs of the day worker community.


 

Core Purpose of the Role


 

The Associate Director is both an operational manager and a community advocate. The position blends nonprofit leadership, program oversight, team supervision, and hands-on community engagement.


 

Key Responsibilities


 

1. Operational Leadership

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the Center
  • Ensure programs and services run smoothly and efficiently
  • Improve internal processes and systems
  • Track organizational outcomes and assess impact


 

2. Program Development & Oversight

  • Oversee implementation of existing programs (job matching, ESL, meals, etc.)
  • Strengthen and expand services based on community needs
  • Support development of new programs
  • Monitor program effectiveness and alignment with strategic goals


 

3. Staff & Volunteer Management

  • Supervise and support staff and volunteers
  • Foster team development and accountability
  • Promote a collaborative and mission-driven work culture


 

4. Community & External Relations

  • Serve as a liaison between day workers, residents, and public officials
  • Build and maintain partnerships with community organizations
  • Support public outreach and relationship-building efforts


 

5. Strategic & Organizational Support

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director on long-term vision and strategy
  • Support governance, fundraising, and stakeholder engagement
  • Contribute to organizational growth and sustainability
