About the Internship
Lutheran Church Extension Fund provides an experiential learning opportunity for college students interested in working with a nonprofit, faith-based financial institution. Working in the Accounting department of LCEF will provide the intern with hands-on experience in preparing and reconciling financial records related to core banking and investments, processing expenses, maintaining accurate documentation, and collaborating with team members and management within a business environment.
This full-time paid internship will take place from Monday, June 1st through Friday, July 31st at the LCEF national office located in Sunset Hills, Missouri. Our program is designed for mentorship and professional development, including additional learning in areas like business etiquette, communication and leadership.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare journal entries relating to the core banking system
- Prepare journal entries relating to investments
- Review and process check requests and expense reports
- Perform account reconciliations, data entry, and document imaging
- Assist the team in creating financial reports in Power BI
- Participate in business meetings
- Collaborate with others in a team environment
- Network with management of the organization
- Carry out ad hoc accounting technology projects at the request of the CAO
What We’re Looking For
- Full-time college student, preferably in Sophomore or Junior year
- Completed coursework toward a bachelor’s degree in accounting or business, with preference to students having taken accounting coursework
- Exercises discretion and judgment in confidential matters
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills
- Experienced Microsoft Office user (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong attention to detail
- Solid organizational and time management skills
