Business Development Intern

About the Internship

Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF) provides an experiential learning opportunity for college students interested in working with a nonprofit, faith-based organization. Working in the Growth Solutions department provides the intern with hands-on experience in business development, data reporting, and content management, focusing on improving collaboration between field employees and national office teams. The intern will develop and enhance tools to support ministry growth and business planning efforts.

This full-time paid internship will take place from Monday, June 1st through Friday, July 31st at the LCEF national office located in Sunset Hills, Missouri. Our program is designed for mentorship and professional development, including additional learning in areas like business etiquette, communication, and leadership.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop, update, and optimize content for the department’s SharePoint intranet site
  • Organize and maintain resources such as District Vice President (DVP) Toolbox training materials, knowledge articles, and promotional content
  • Improve accessibility and the usability of department resources for Growth Solutions team members
  • Assist in developing and pulling reports from Salesforce and Power BI to support business decisions
  • Work with team members to identify key business questions and provide relevant data insights
  • Support performance tracking for ministry development and business planning initiatives
  • Review and audit expense reports for accuracy and policy compliance
  • Work with the administrative team to understand organizational financial processes and tools like DocuSign
  • Work closely with District Solutions leadership to understand ministry planning, development, and lending practices
  • Provide support for project onboarding, loan application processes, and investment-related inquiries as required by Growth Solutions team members
  • Assist in business planning, event coordination, and strategic initiatives that align with LCEF’s mission
  • Assist in preparing written and oral presentations for executive staff
  • Contribute to department projects and change initiatives to support collaboration and operational efficiency

What We’re Looking For

  • Full-time college student, preferably in Sophomore or Junior year
  • Completed coursework towards bachelor’s degree in business administration or other relevant major
  • Exercises discretion and judgment in confidential matters
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills
  • Experienced Microsoft Office user (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Solid organizational and time management skills
