SUMMER 2026 Instructional Design Intern
As an Instructional Design Intern at Mid-City Electric, you’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by shaping how we develop our field leaders and project managers. This role plays a key part in building the learning systems that train, support, and grow our people across the organization. You’ll work alongside our Employee Development team to turn real-world construction knowledge into clear, practical, and engaging learning experiences. If you enjoy bringing structure to ideas, transforming complex information into something easy to understand, and creating polished graphics, layouts, and visuals that make learning more effective, this internship offers hands-on experience where your creativity and organization directly influence how our teams learn and grow.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Build and publish eLearning modules in Rise360 and Canva, and upload them into the Learning Management System (LMS), Paycor
- Convert existing slide decks, notes, and documents into structured, professional online learning content (heavy focus on our Field Development Program and Project Manager Development Program Content)
- Record, edit, and format training videos for our LMS and private training YouTube channel
- Create templates for repeatable workflows for content creation, and identify ways to produce content more efficiently in a scalable, sharable way
- Design knowledge checks and simple interactive elements that reinforce real job application
- Organize and clean up our LMS content library so it is structured, searchable, and scalable
- Support tracking and entering training records accurately
What Would Really Make You Shine:
- Experience with Articulate Rise360 and Canva
- Strong instructional design skills
- Understanding of adult learning principles
- Video shooting and editing experience
- Ability to take raw notes or rough direction and turn them into clean, finished content
- Strong writing skills with the ability to simplify technical language
- Comfortable working independently without needing constant supervision
- Comfortable taking a rough direction and turning it into polished, finished work

- Successfully launch multiple polished eLearning modules during the internship
- Reduce department’s content production time by 30–40%
- Improve LMS organization so courses are easier for employees to find and complete
- Establish templates and repeatable workflows for content creation
- Create a video library of clean, professional training resources
- Require minimal management while producing high-quality learning content
